Brooklyn Center is hiring an Assistant Director of Engineering
Location: Brooklyn, NY

Brooklyn Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Director of Engineering with significant experience in skilled nursing or healthcare facility maintenance. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with deep expertise across multiple trades and a strong understanding of regulatory standards.

Duties Include:

  • Assist with regular inspections of facility and equipment for safety, upkeep, and appearance

  • Support the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical installations, and more

  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and residents

  • Ensure timely repair and turnover of vacated rooms

  • Be available for emergency troubleshooting and repairs

  • Maintain all equipment in clean and functional condition at all times

  • Ensure compliance with State, Federal, and OSHA regulations

Requirements Include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Extensive, relevant experience in facility maintenance within a skilled nursing or healthcare environment is required

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance

  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting

  • Flexible schedule with rotating on-call and weekend availability

  • Fire safety certifications preferred (S12, S13, Fire Safety Director)

  • Prior experience working in a nursing home is strongly preferred
