Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Educator
Cooperstown Center is hiring an LPN Nurse Educator in Cooperstown, NY.
Duties:
• Assist with staff development and training programs by providing education on safety, body mechanics, infection control, hazardous materials, and other topics required by NYSDOH and regulatory agencies.
• Support employee orientation, onboarding, and ongoing education programs.
• Coach and educate nursing staff to promote clinical excellence and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain records of educational activities, attendance, competencies, and training completion.
• Report on active projects and educational initiatives on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Participate in QAPI meetings and quality improvement projects.
• Assist the Director of Nursing and leadership team in planning, coordinating, and implementing staff education programs.
• Assist with data collection, audits, and evaluations related to staff education and performance improvement initiatives.
• Keep the Director of Nursing informed regarding educational activities, compliance concerns, and training needs.
• Maintain communication with employees on leave, disability, or workers' compensation when appropriate and directed by leadership.
• Assist with employee health and safety education programs, including OSHA and infection prevention initiatives.
• Review incident reports and identify opportunities for education and process improvement.
• Assist with annual competency evaluations and mandatory in-service training programs.
• Administer TB testing and vaccinations within the scope of practice and under the direction of the Director of Nursing, in accordance with facility policies and applicable regulations.
Requirements:
• Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License.
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
• Previous experience training, educating, or mentoring staff preferred.
• Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
• CPR Certification required; CPR Instructor certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
• Knowledge of long-term care regulations, infection control, OSHA requirements, and safety procedures.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.
