Staff Development Coordinator

Kingston Center is actively seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to work as a Staff Development Coordinator at our Skilled Nursing Facility in West Kingston, Rhode Island. Experience in Long Term Care is preferred but not required. 

Nurse Education Duties:

  • Responsible for overseeing the educational needs of the staff (staff development and improvement processes) to meet RISDOH & other regulatory mandates
  • Monitor and oversee employee health and orientation processes for our healthcare facility
  • Educate, coach, and verify staff performance to ensure best practice, compliance, and top customer service
  • Have familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, etc
  • Record and document educational activity, attendance, and responses
  • Report on active projects, reactions, and progress of nursing staff
  • Assist Director of Quality and or Director of Nursing in planning, coordinating, and implementing staff programs and services to ensure a well-educated staff.
  • Maintain appropriate records and assist in data collection for assessment and evaluation purposes
  • Consult with and keeps Director of Quality and or Director of Nursing informed as appropriate or required
  • Maintain good departmental relationships, interacting effectively with all internal and external customers
  • Maintain close contact with employees off work, on disability or workman’s compensation, and their physicians to facilitate their earliest possible return to work
  • Review incident reports, OSHA reports, involving employees injured at work & coordinates education, loss prevention program with our safety program
  • Provide annual tuberculosis screening of volunteers; directs follow-up procedure for positive Mantoux testing within the scope of practice and under the direction of Director of Nursing
  • Administers Hep B vaccines & Mantoux (TB skin tests) to various contracted agencies and individuals per guidelines and under the direction of Director of Quality or Director of Nursing


  • Current Rhode Island State RN License
  • Solid computer skills; working knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Should be friendly and a team worker
